Ultra Electronics USSI, a global leader in propane and natural gas fueled backup and portable power options, participated in the 2017 Fuel Cell Seminar & Energy Exposition held on 9 November at the Long Beach Convention Center, Long Beach, CA. This year’s event featured industry thought leader Craig Allman, Fuel Cell Program Manager at USSI.
This annual exposition brings together the best scientific and technical minds in the industry to share research, experience and insights into fuel cell technology. Educational opportunities included panels and discussions featuring the top communications, policy and business thinkers in the industry. There was also a chance to talk to many key federal and state officials who shared their understanding of the business opportunities and challenges ahead.
Allman presented a lecture titled Solid Oxide Fuel Cells Eliminate Downtime for Hybrid, Off-grid, Power Systems as part of the Techno-Economic Analysis, Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC)/Stationary technical session. The lecture focused on the hybridization of SOFC, along with solar and wind sources. When properly implemented, these reliable systems produce an optimal balance of power and low maintenance costs for off-grid remote applications and critical infrastructure backup.
Craig Allman, Fuel Cell Program Manager for USSI commented: “Fuel cells are a game changer in the remote power market, enabling 24-7 uptime of off-grid power systems with no maintenance and the easy and clean fuel options of propane and natural gas. USSI’s SOFC product is providing real technical and economic value to its users and I’m very pleased to have had the opportunity to share our validated case studies with the fuel cell community.”
